Nicole is a typical teenager, new girl in town, and suddenly she finds out that she is a witch? Nicole has been placed in every single honors class at her new school, with all the children of the witches in the town of Kinsley. Nicole's powers are immediately awakened within the first hour, and all she can wonder is 'how can this be?'
Every new school always has the guy who is off limits. Blake is off limits because he has a girlfriend, but there is definitely a connection between him and Nicole from the moment they first meet eyes.
On one night that the Olympus Comet is to pass through the sky, for the first time in 3,000 years, Nicole, Blake, his girlfriend Danielle, and two other students, Kate and Chris, all experience something extraordinary. Their mental powers have been enhanced to physical powers. Each of them can now control the Elements.
To keep from giving "too much" away, Nicole's homeroom teacher, gives her an old prophecy, and tells her to "figure it out". Along with the other Elementals, as Chris so comically named them, Nicole takes charge and learns that she is the daughter of Apollo. Of course, she has never met him, because he 'left' before she was born.
They fight monsters, find clues about the prophecy, and learn how to utilize their powers better, and learn that they each have an important task. However, Nicole has the most important abilities, because not only does she heal the spirit, but she is much stronger than she is allowing the others to see.
My Rating: 5 of 5 Stars.What can I say about this book other than it was phenomenal! This book has me going full force! I have mentioned before that I am not usually one to read books with Greek Mythology, though the topic has always interested me. This story just shot off the page. The characters were so lovable and well developed. Nicole is a strong character; Blake definitely is her counter-part, though nothing has been set in stone yet. I felt like I was actually there with them, going on their adventure to find the Book of Shadows. I could hardly wait to get into the next book, so expect a review for The Blood of the Hydra within a few days, if not sooner. Also, because this is a favorite of many other Elementals lovers (as well as me), here is a quote from the book.
